What is an Arborist?

In short an arborist is a specialist in the cultivation and care of trees and shrubs. Arborists also diagnose, treat, and prevent tree diseases. So what makes arborists stand out as opposed to experienced professionals? Do you need to hire one for your project?

Why Hire a Licensed Arborist

If you do an online search for the word arborist you will get the results “tree surgeon”. With that in mind think about if YOU were having surgery. I’m sure you would want a licensed doctor, in fact that would most likely be a requirement. It’s really no different with our tree friends. Arborists are like tree doctors, they have a wealth of knowledge and the experience required to take the best possible care of your living breathing trees and shrubs. In order to “practice” they even have to pass a series of exams and have a license issued to them by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Dealing with trees in the proper way is a real art and there’s a science to it. So next time you're looking for tree pruning, removal, emergency tree care, planting, cabling or bracing, choose a licensed arborist.
